Chemical composition and antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of essential oils of Polytrichum commune (Hedw.) and Antitrichia curtipendula (Hedw.) Brid. grown in Turkey

The aim of this study is to analyze the volatile composition and antimicrobial antioxidant activities essential oils Polytrichum commune Antitrichia curtipendula. obtained by hydro-distillation (HD) from each species were identified GC-MS/FID. main components biformene (13.06%), ?-pinene (6.53%), bornyl acetate (8.10%) in P. commune. Nonanal tetradecanal as major compounds 19.96% 20.23% A. curtipendula oils, respectively. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using in-vitro models. There no significant difference within groups according DPPH activity. Also, oil showed higher metal-ion chelating than that Metal-ion varied between 4.1% 67.4% at 800 µg/mL concentration, tested a minimal inhibition concentration test.
